At the beginning, we were travelling in Belgium to visit a powerplant that just shut down. We know that reach a powerplant abandoned since a short time is quite difficult. After a while to walk and climb during the night, we finally reach the inside powerplant area. Suddenly, we saw a flashlight beam in the other edge of area and we heard some dogs barking. It was the security guard. We ran out, unfortunately we couldn’t get inside, why not for a next, time, now, we know that its sill abandoned and well kept!

We slept a little bit on the car and when de sun rose, we went to that glass plant. Despite vandalism and copper theft, this facility is still awesome.

 

This glass plant shut down around 2014 after a hard social plan. This plant was producing glass panels, and some, was used for solar panels manufacturing.  Unfortunately, with the low-cost Chinese competition, the company wouldn’t continue to operate this plant with the huge deficit. The big hoven has been stopped with the glass mixture inside which destroyed a part the hoven when it became solid.

Today, this working tool is out of order and the plant is rotting away. We only spotted a weird brand-new container with security cameras which would certainly be an electric generator, why not for rehabilitation or demolition works…
