The psychiatric hospital M
The psychiatric hospital M, built at the end of the XIX century, was a huge compound for mad people and homeless people or on the edge of the society of that time.
Actually, this facility was more a prison than a hospital, it’s only during the XX century that it became a psychiatric hospital aimed more to “treat mental disease” than punish and move away from the society. Of course, those treatment methods were known to be brutal and cruel.
However, at the beginning of the XXI century, the facility, close to a dangerous plant, was listed as Seveso area, the European directive to prevent industrial accidents. So, all patients were moved to another facility.
Nowadays, those walls are rotting away, the compound is kept by fire safely staff because the facility still considered as a public establishment. All the buildings still powered on electricity, even the laundry didn’t move.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time to visit all the compound, our visit was shortened by a local guy who was looking frightened by black Mercedes! He called the police because of our car parked inside the huge and opened area! He was treating us as gangsters! The police came, controlled our documents and let us go back home with my “gangster car”.
