Giant Parrot Hotel

The giant parrot hotel with a Bauhaus architecture, located around Francfurt, was abandoned around 2013. With it 90’s style, since 2010, the hotel was getting some bas rewards on the internet. In 2013, the hotel was closed because of the poor level of equipment due to the lack of investment. Then, after a while, the hotel was sold to a Chinese investor. In 2017, renovating works started, but after 4 years of vacation there were lot of works to do.
In May 2018, a part of the hotel opened again. Now, more than half of the rooms are available for booking on the internet.

For our visit, in august 2017, this place was the first one of a 4 days road trip in Germany. We left Paris a Friday at the end of the day to arrive there during the night. It was raining, we walked around for 1h30 to find an entrance. We were totally wet and started to visit the hotel. It was a very huge place. Electricity is on and we saw the main stair lighted, so we approached the stairs and we saw some security cameras and alarm sensors, are they working? We didn’t take any risk and walked back to find a room to sleep waiting for the sunrise. We locked the room and unmounted the looking cylinder to be in safe. We used the comfortable beds with liners and the hairdryer to dry our clothes! On bathrooms, there were running cold water and still have some hotel soaps, very useful to wash our hands! Unfortunately, we didn’t go to the 1930’s bar to avoid the risk to be trapped by security systems, we didn’t know it they were working but they looked very new!
After a day of shooting, an awesome experience we went back on the road to continue our trip and sleep on our real rental apartment.
